Summer school
Some independent schools offer summer courses that are open to all students, no matter which school they attend during the year.
TO RESPOND TO EVERYONE’S NEEDS, SUMMER COURSES OFFERED BY INDEPENDENT SCHOOLS CAN SOMETIMES BE CONDUCTED EITHER IN CLASS OR ONLINE!
WHO CAN ATTEND
SUMMER SCHOOL?
Summer courses are designed for students who have failed a class or obtained unsatisfactory grades in their core subjects. These courses aim to summarize the current year’s curriculum in preparation for the following school year.
Many schools recommend that students with a grade of 65% or less in their core subjects attend summer school. This gives them the chance to review the necessary material to ensure their success during the following school year.
Summer sessions are also a great solution for students who were absent from school for an extended period of time and want to catch up on what they missed.
PREPARING FOR
THE SCIENCE STREAM
Summer courses can also be recommended for students who wish to enter the science stream in secondary 4 and 5 but did not obtain sufficient grades in math or science in secondary 3.
They are also a good option for students who are looking to obtain certain prerequisites before entering their program of choice in Quebec.
